I just got a call from a lady in Conesus that says she has a Maytag engine she wants to sell, hopefully I can get to see it on the weekend.

    turning dirt in Brockville

This is always a sure sign of spring.100_9064I love the smell of fresh turned dirt.It takes me back to my younger days,we didn't plow with equipment like this, but I always loved that smell.

    on the auction trail

Alright,so I'm an auction junkie, most weeks I attend at least 3,sometimes as many as 5.I'm in Nescopeck for the annual Fire Co consignment sale,it's the first one i've been to in about 8 or 10 yrs.My Dad got it started back in the 80s,I think,it's a much smaller version of the annual auction in Kempton,PA,Dad and I did a lot of work for this auction for quite a few years. After Dad died,my cousin ran it until he passed away in March of 2007.It's a lot different than it was 20yrs ago,but I know I'll run into some old friends and hopefully come away with a few bargains.

    old engines

I picked up parts for an engine from a 1920s Maytag washing machine over the weekend,I'm on a quest to find the rest of the parts that I need to make this pile of metal into a running engine.
